After joining a Review group on Facebook, I was sent Fist of Rage by Kisa and would really like to thank her. This story was told incredibly. It was heartfelt, raw and soo real. I thought reading this book, that it may trigger me as I have been through something similar but truthfully it has sort of done the opposite. I have found the book a little healing and also shown me that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Although the Cliff hanger ending has me now completely crazy wanting to know more of how the story unfolds.
*** This book could be a trigger for someone with a history of domestic abuse or substance abuse ***
Olivia or Ollie, has travelled to Vegas to hide away from her extremely abusive ex-husband who just so happens to work at the district attorneys office. She has been in the dark completely about his debts, gambling and links to the Russian Mafia. Olivia finally files for divorce and this is where we meet Ollie. She is trying to get her life back on track with the help of Rachel her best friend and Alex (Rachel's boyfriend) who is the head of a foundation supporting victims of domestic abuse. Alex sets Ollie up with an interview with Ian Allessandro who is his partner in the foundation and also his friend.
Ian is a business mogul who owns bars, clubs and a casino in Las Vegas. Ian interviews Ollie for a managerial role for Whiskey his new entertainment and restaurant that he is building. Meeting Ian we see that he has an ex-wife who has a lot of issues and Ian is at the point now of washing his hands completely of her. She caused their divorce with infidelity and drug abuse. Ian has helped in trying to get her on the straight and narrow but is done now. When Ian first meets Ollie he has a sense of already knowing her and seeing her. When he connects the dots of her past Ollie clams up and the interview doesn't go so well but neither of them can forget the other and the underlying connection that they delt for each other.
With Ollies Ex now out to find her and bring her back into his claws, they have to try and keep her safe whilst Alex and Rachel are away, Ian steps in on the foundation work and finds that he is needed a lot more to help Ollie than he first thought after walking in on her beaten form. This is the catalyst for the beginning of their brewing relationship and as more and more of the treacherous tales unfold and more horrors with both their ex's take form, they only grow closer right up until the end.
This cliff hanger leaves you wanting to read on and the story was incredible. The passion comes not from sexual scenes but from the adoption and connection between the two characters. Go read this book it is a beauty.
