Debra sent me this as a gift on my birthday and I can't thank her enough. ON seeing the book cover and the blurb I was instantly ready for a good read and this book was wonderful.
It really is a nice and lovely read both the characters are strong in their own right and really lead the story to its final destination. Oliver is a sexy billionaire who owns a company in corporate investments who had a difficult upbringing when his mother died at an early stage of his life and his father charged for her death and heading to prison. He was left in the system and didn't have the best of experiences being a quiet and lonely young boy but he flourished in his school life and worked his way up to building his extremely successful business. The only downfall is he finds it hard to let women and people into his life. He is used to being alone and dealing with his work, especially after his ex left him for a wealthier man.
Kate is a beautiful down to earth kindergarten teacher who seriously has a heart of gold. She puts everyone first and is always about to help others less fortunate than herself. Especially the children of the Parkerville Project which unbeknown to her Oliver is a big benefactor of. Kate is a flurry of activity she buries herself in work and helping everyone else to hide away from life and relationships. Her past experiences have left her with a serious lack of confidence in herself and also given her huge trust issues. Letting people in is soo hard for her and throughout this book, we see the struggles she faces in overcoming her fears and deep-seated negativity surrounding herself.
Oliver and Kate first meet whilst he is helping in the construction of one of the schools for which he helps fund the projects and Kate is there to help set up the teachers and the schooling. Their desire and connection for each other is literally instant and both can't take the other from their mind even when apart. It takes them 15 months to finally find each other at a chance meeting for another project in helping the community. Yet again their connection is off the charts but Kate puts her walls up and makes Oliver seriously do some more in grinding them down to let him in.
Oliver is patient, kind and Loving with Kate he helps her slowly lower her walls to let him and their story is truly beautiful I found myself smiling along with the story, at the beautiful words they share with each other and the sex scenes were pretty hot as well. This really is a lovely romantic story with a few twists and turns that life shoves at them but nothing too heavy. It was magical and I enjoyed it. My favourite character though has got to be Margie, she stole the show with her candidness and witty remarks she is funny and makes you laugh along with her.
My only critique for this book and the reason I am giving it my rating is that I felt it at times was a little too detailed in places where it didn't need to be and not enough in other places I thought there could have been, also at a couple of points and I only mean a couple of points it was like I was reading a list of what was happening rather than feeling like I was watching the events unfold. The truth is this doesn't distract from the story and it really does deserve to be read so go grab a copy.
My rating for this is 4 💋💋💋💋
