Thank You Mina for sending me a copy of your book to read and review.
This is the third book in the Oak Springs series and follows Laney and Jacobs story.
Laney is a strong single mom who owns the wooden sign store in Oak springs, her eight-year-old daughter Gracie is the apple of her eye and is just soo sweet in this novel. throughout this story we get to understand Laney's past and how she became a single mom but when the man who broke her heart all those years ago makes an appearance and declares he is there to stay we get to see the more guarded and protective Laney.
Jacob Wilson, left Oak springs in the dead of night 9 years ago, after feeling like a failure and having a father who didn't approve of his life choices. Teenage Jacob got locked into a dangerous life and in order to protect the ones he loved he ran but by not telling anyone why or where he was going the anger and hurt stook around for those loved ones. SO, on his return getting those people to trust him and believe that he isn't just a bypasser is a difficult one but Jacob is willing to fight it out and prove himself. especially when he realises he left behind more than he realised.
When Jacobs past life threatens to come back and haunt him he makes some drastic choices, choices that affect all of those he loves and then he has to fight all over again in many different ways.
I enjoyed reading this book, however, I just felt that it was a very very slow burner and at one point I had to argue with myself to keep on reading because I just felt it became a bit repetitive and a little boring. After continuing through the story did pick back up.
Both Characters are wonderful but for me, Laney became a little irritating at times especially around letting Jacob get to know Gracie subject it felt like this was prolonged too much and made me think differently of her as a character but Jacob really does keep you wanting to find out more.
