Thanks JA for sending me a copy to read and review.
This book confused the hell out of me for the first quarter. I was puzzled at how the prologue fitted in with the first few chapters and it drove me a little crazy. once I realised how it fit in I really relaxed into the story and enjoyed it.
This story follows Kane who is a cult survivor. He was born into a cult and when the FBI Raided he was saved. He has come along way since then and is now an amazing top of his game Footballer at college with dreams of the NFL. He wants nothing to stand in his way so when the one person from his past he never expects or wants to see is standing right infron of him at a party his mind goes into overdrive.
Brie is a cheerleader who has moved from Tennessee. She is happy bubbly and easy to like. Brie has a few secrets that she keeps away from everyone. So when someone breaks into her house and demands she leaves she has no idea why or who it could be
Brows secrets are what she feels could destroy her but she can't help her attraction to Kane and doesn't know why he is so familiar until he taunts her and finally snaps.
This is a tragic story that discusses cults and the affects that they have on survivors. This story has plenty of twists and turns to keep the story active and make you want to know more.
I did enjoy this story however my critique would be that I was slightly disappointed with the ending or how the cult situation ended it felt anti climatic to what we had been built up to. The beginning of the story really delved into the characters and the ending felt slightly rushed I just wished it gave us a little more angst and depth.
