Frances reached out and asked me to read this book which is due for release on Aug 17th 2022. I was super excited as I have read Frances work before and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Wild Hearts and Dragonflies is a tough read and can be triggering for some. There are discussions of Abuse- in many forms, Rape, Gaslighting.
This story is told very beautifully though and even with those triggers is told with care.
When we first meet Liz she is a young mom to a toddler and is about to pop with baby number 2. The father of the children has left her high and dry. not a care in the world for his family. After making it home from taking her child to the doctors. Liz lies on the bed comforting her child as she goes into labour and a name from her past gives her the sign she needs to return home.
Jace is a star football player, who has had to have surgery and is heading home to recover. He found out through his best friend that the girl he has loved since school is now back in his hometown and from the offset decides now is their time. What he doesn't count on is her Downbeat psycho ex-husband to come back into town.
There are a lot of twists and turns in this book but seeing these characters develop was wonderful. My only critique would be that i personally felt things moved far to quick but that is not saying that it doesn't happen like that. The way the delicate subjects are handled is vry well and I would certainly recommend giving this book a read.
